Power grid flickers got worse after the smart meters went in

I watched the lights pulse in my neighborhood in Dayton for 3 weeks straight after they swapped the old meters out. A buddy who works at the utility says the new ones create feedback on the line, but I can't find any official report on it. Has anyone else seen this pattern after their install?
