Can we talk about the weird stuff happening with the power grid in Texas lately?
My home security system in Dallas went totally dark for about 45 minutes last Tuesday night, right after I saw a local news report about a substation fire. The timing felt off, and the official story about a simple equipment failure doesn't add up when you look at the pattern of these outages over the last six months. Has anyone else in the area dug into the maintenance logs or noticed other strange failures?

My cousin works at Oncor in Fort Worth and showed me their internal outage map from last week. The Tuesday night event was one of seventeen similar faults logged just this month. Most were from old transformers overheating, not fires. The grid is running way over capacity because so many new data centers got built without upgrading the local infrastructure first. It looks like a maintenance problem because that's exactly what it is.

Seventeen faults in a month sounds like a lot, but @michael880, isn't that just normal wear and tear for an old system? They fix those transformers all the time.
