I finally hit 100 yards of flatwork in one day and had to rethink my whole pace

Been doing concrete for about 8 years now and always thought I was a steady worker, not super fast but reliable. Last Tuesday we had a big driveway pour outside Nashville, 100 yards exactly, and I finished my section by 2pm. That never happens to me. Turns out I had been over-tamping my edges and wasting time on unnecessary passes. My foreman showed me a lighter touch with the bull float and it cut like 45 minutes off my day. Anybody else ever surprise themselves with a number they hit and realize they been working harder than they needed to?
