Had the worst pour day of my career last Thursday in Nashville

We were doing a 40 yard driveway pour and the weather was supposed to hold. Halfway through the chute, the clouds just opened up and dumped rain for 20 solid minutes. I frantically got everyone under tarps but the finish on the first 15 yards was already trashed with pitting and washout. The homeowner came out and stood there with his arms crossed, not saying a word. I ended up having to tear out and redo that whole section the next morning at my own cost. Has anyone else had a weather surprise completely wreck their day like that?

...and that homeowner just standing there, arms crossed, not saying a word. That's the part that would've pushed me over the edge honestly. Did he end up being reasonable about it after you tore it out and redid it, or did he act like you owed him more than that? Because I've had clients who will watch you eat a whole job and still try to nickle and dime you on the redo, like it's somehow still your fault the weather lied.

That part about "still try to nickle and dime you" really got me. It's like some people see someone else's problem as their chance to get ahead, you know? I see it all the time at the grocery store too. Someone will watch a kid drop a jar of sauce and instead of saying "hey it happens" they stand there waiting for the manager to give them a discount on something. It's just this weird thing where people forget we're all human and stuff happens.
