That time my backup drive failed and I lost 6 months of work files
Last Tuesday my external hard drive started clicking and my computer wouldn't see it anymore. I had been meaning to set up cloud backups for months but never got around to it. Lost client records, invoice templates, and some grooming photos I was saving for a website. Has anyone else had a drive fail suddenly like that and what recovery methods actually worked for you?

My friend's drive died mid-wedding photoshoot once. He spent $800 on some data recovery place and got back about half of them. Still sends me angry texts about it two years later.

$800 for half of them? That's brutal. @troykim's friend must have been sick about it. Makes me want to double check my own setup right now.
