I finally saw a client try to fix a blue screen by reinstalling the whole OS

They brought in a laptop from a small shop in Springfield that kept crashing, and the first thing they did was wipe the drive without checking the RAM. I ran a memory test and found a bad stick in under five minutes. How many times have you seen someone jump straight to a full reinstall for a simple hardware problem?

Man, always test the RAM first, it saves so much time.

Can't agree more, testing RAM first is the move. Wesleyw46 is right, it cuts out so much guesswork when you're getting weird crashes or blue screens. I've spent hours swapping CPUs or messing with drivers only to find out it was a single bad stick the whole time. A quick memtest run early on saves a ton of headache.
