I finally called out a client for saying 'just restart it' fixes everything
They argued a reboot solves all software issues, but I've seen three systems this month where it masked a failing drive until data was lost. How do you handle clients who oversimplify complex problems?

Yeah that drives me nuts. I started keeping a simple log of times a reboot didn't fix the core issue, just delayed it. Next time they said it, I pulled up two clear examples where a reboot just made things worse a week later. Showing the pattern, not just arguing, finally got them to listen. It's not about proving them wrong, it's about proving the problem is still there.

Look at it from their side, sometimes a reboot really does clear a memory leak or a stuck process that's the real problem. Your log idea is smart, @riverwhite, but it can also just catch the times the fix was only temporary by chance. You might end up tracking symptoms instead of the actual cause.
