From a recent harbor inspection: bio-markers did more harm than good

Many divers think using biodegradable markers is a clear win for the environment. On a harbor floor survey last month, our team switched to these plant-based tags. They disintegrated in the current before we finished mapping, leaving plastic bits everywhere. We had to re-mark the entire zone with our old clips. So I disagree that newer always means greener down here.

Ugh, been there with "green" materials failing on the job... always test a small batch in real conditions first.

Wait, they failed on the actual job site? That's wild. How bad was the damage?

Seriously, this is a supply chain problem. @veramason, the damage is bad because they sold us a product that wasn't fit for the job. The real issue is companies making "green" stuff for marketing, not for actual field work. They don't test it in real conditions like strong currents. We end up buying it with good intentions and create more waste. It makes people distrust all eco options, even the good ones.
