That $120 omnibus in Cleveland turned out to be a paperweight for me
I bought the huge Absolute Sandman volume last March from a shop on West 25th, thinking it would be my prized collection piece. Took it home, cracked it open, and the binding cracked too after just 30 pages, with pages literally falling out in chunks. I've heard people rave about these oversized editions for years, but at $120 I expected something that could survive a casual read on my couch. The small paperback versions I've owned for a decade still hold up better, which says a lot. Do you all actually read your fancy hardcovers, or do they just sit on a shelf looking pretty while the floppies do the real work?
