PSA: Buying single issues every Wednesday is a waste for most of us and I finally did the math
I started keeping a spreadsheet back in January after my longbox count hit 400 and I ran out of shelf space in the garage. Out of 47 single issues I picked up over 9 weeks from my shop in Tucson, I ended up re-reading exactly 6 of them, and 31 were still in the bag and board untouched. Meanwhile the two trades I bought that same stretch got read twice each and loaned to a buddy. I know Wednesday warriors will hate this, but for anyone who reads for story and not for the cover variants, waiting for the collected edition saves real money and shelf space. Has anyone else tracked their actual re-read rate, or am I the odd one here?
Been there man. I did the same thing around 2019 and it was ugly, something like 200 books and maybe 20 got a second read. One thing that helped me was switching to a pull list of just 3 or 4 titles I actually care about and letting the rest go to trades. The money saved goes right back into the ones I love, and my shelf stopped looking like a storage unit. Do you still grab any singles at all or did you go all in on trades?
