My sister said she only reads comics for the movie hype now
She called my long boxes 'homework' for the next Marvel show, and idk, it kinda killed my vibe for the week. Anyone else get tired of that take?

Wait, she only reads them for the movie hype? That's the whole point for her? That feels so backwards, like watching the trailer for a meal instead of eating it. Calling your collection homework is just rude, it's a hobby not a chore. That would totally kill my vibe too. She's missing the actual stories and the art that make the movies possible in the first place.

I get the instinct to push back on that "trailer for a meal" comparison, but honestly I see it a little different. A lot of people don't get into reading comics until they see a movie and want more of that world, and that's totally fine. If the movies are what get her to actually check out the source material, that's still her connecting with the comics in her own way, not just homework.
