Honestly thought collecting variant covers was a waste of money

I picked up the standard issue of Immortal Hulk #1 for cover price, but my friend got the Artgerm variant for $40. Seeing his copy in person, the art is just so much better and it feels special. Anyone else switch from just reading to actually collecting specific covers?

Ever see those Alex Ross covers? They're what got me. Now I'm hunting down a few specific ones. Makes the whole thing more fun.

Yeah, the hunt for specific covers is the real game. Makes you wonder how many people are out there looking for the exact same issue, turning a comic shop into a quiet battlefield.

@dylanf78 the Artgerm cover was actually $50 at my shop, not $40. Easy typo but still.
