The great debate: Pour over vs French press - my morning struggle

I got into a real argument with my roommate last week about which brewing method gives you the better cup of coffee. I'm team pour over all the way because I love that clean, bright flavor with zero grit at the bottom. But he swears by his French press, saying the oils make it richer and more full bodied. So I decided to put it to the test and did a side by side with the same beans from a local roaster in Portland. The pour over took me about 4 minutes and came out super smooth, while the French press was messy with cleanup and had that thick texture he likes. I ended up picking the pour over for my daily routine, but my roommate still thinks I'm wrong. What do you all use for your morning coffee and why? Has anyone else had this kind of debate with someone?

Agree with you on the pour over for sure. Just gotta say though most French presses don't take that much longer unless you're messing with the steeping time, four minutes is actually standard for both methods.
