Showerthought: Is the pour-over hype actually better than a solid $30 drip machine or are we just fooling ourselves?
I spent last weekend at a local coffee shop in Portland watching a barista spend 4 minutes on a single pour-over while the guy next to me got a cup from the auto-drip in 30 seconds and honestly I couldn't tell which one tasted better - do you put real stock in the ritual or just the results?

Three years ago I spent $300 on a gooseneck kettle and fancy scale just to prove I could make better coffee than my $20 Mr. Coffee, and last week I timed myself and I was 47 seconds slower than the drip machine for a cup I immediately burned my tongue on. So yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm just fooling myself and enjoying every second of it... the ritual makes me feel fancy even if my taste buds can't tell the difference between a single origin Ethiopian and a diner's bottomless brew.

47 seconds slower and a burned tongue? That's brutal man.
