My French press shattered in the sink this morning and now I'm using a sock as a filter

I was rinsing my Bodum press after breakfast and the glass carafe just cracked right in my hands, sending coffee grounds everywhere. After fifteen minutes of cleanup I remembered an old camping trick about using a clean sock as a makeshift filter. Has anyone else had a brewing setup fail on them at the worst possible time?

Man, that sucks. Hopefully the sock trick gets you through the morning without any weird fabric taste.

Honestly, @kellymurphy that sock trick is a lifesaver even if it tastes a little weird at first. Ngl I've done the same thing with a clean tube sock on a cold morning and it beats freezing hands every time. The fabric taste is rough but it fades after a few minutes once you get moving. At least you're not out there with no gloves at all, that's the real nightmare.
