Used to hand-code every tool offset, now I let the probe do it - saved me 8 hours last month

I was the guy who insisted on manually touching off every tool with a feeler gauge. Thought probes were for lazy people or shops with too much money. Then I ran a job with 14 tools that had to be changed out mid-run for resharpening. Spent 45 minutes re-setting offsets every time. Third time through I finally broke down and borrowed the probe off the machine next to me. Cut my setup time from an hour to under 5 minutes. Now I'm wondering how many years I wasted being stubborn about this. Anyone else still doing things the hard way just because that's how they learned?

Wasted years being stubborn" ... yep, that hits a little too close to home.

Man, it's wild how we can know we're being stubborn in the moment but still can't stop ourselves. The weird part is I think sometimes being stubborn is just a shield for being scared of change, you know? Like we'd rather stick with a bad situation than face the unknown. It's not until years later when you look back that you see the full picture and realize how much time you wasted just... holding your ground for no real reason.
