Found a trick to clean coolant residue off aluminum parts

Last week I was fighting with some parts that kept coming out of the machine with this sticky film no matter what I tried. I spent like 3 hours swapping between different degreasers and it just wasn't cutting it. Then one of the old timers came by and said try plain WD-40 with a scotch brite pad... I laughed at first but figured why not. Worked like a charm in about 15 minutes, no more residue at all. Has anyone else run into this issue with certain alloys? I'm curious if there's a better long term solution.

Honestly man, that WD-40 trick is a lifesaver. I had the same headache with 6061 aluminum parts a few months back, sticky gunk just would not budge. Tried a citrus degreaser and it barely touched it. Switched to WD-40 and a green scotch brite, had the residue wiped off in like ten minutes. No idea why it works so much better than stuff made for the job.
