Wasted $150 on that fancy compostable trash bag subscription before I realized they just fall apart in the bin after three days.
They disintegrated in the heat and I had to pick soggy coffee grounds out of the can by hand, has anyone found a brand that actually holds up?

Oh man, "soggy coffee grounds by hand" is exactly where I ended up too. I tried that whole subscription thing last summer and the bags basically melted into a wet pile of goo after two days in the heat. I was scraping decomposed lettuce out of the bottom of my kitchen bin with a spatula, it was disgusting. The only brand that's worked for me so far is the one from World Centric, the ones with the green stripe on the box. They still don't last forever, maybe like four or five days, but at least they don't turn into a science experiment.

Honestly, I don't see it the same way. Those compostable bags aren't supposed to last forever, they're meant to break down, that's the whole point. Putting wet coffee grounds and food scraps in them for a week is asking for trouble in my experience. I just wrap my soggy stuff in newspaper first or freeze it before trash day, that stops the bag from turning into goo. Maybe the problem isn't the bag but just how we're all using them.
