Showerthought: That 'creosote log' I swore by for years was a waste
Used those logs every fall for 5 years. Then a certified sweep in Denver showed me the soot buildup still looked like 3 months of neglect inside. Has anyone else found a better preventative product?

Crushed the creosote problem in my fireplace by switching to dry seasoned wood and cutting those gimmick logs completely. A moisture meter costs twenty bucks and saves you from ever needing to guess if your wood is actually ready to burn. The only log worth buying is the one that keeps rain off your split pile.

Does that moisture meter work on logs that have been split and stacked for a whole season?
