My dad always said to use a 6 inch brush for standard flues, but a guy in Boise swore by 8 inch for better contact.

I stuck with the 6 inch for years, but after a tough creosote job in a 40 year old brick chimney last month, I tried the 8 inch and it cleaned way faster. Do you think brush size really matters that much, or is it more about technique?

Disagree completely, @troykim. That guy was just loud and wrong.
