I finally had a kid mistake me for Santa on the job.
His surprise made cleaning that tight flue feel easy.

Wait, Santa cleaning a "tight flue"? That's the part that gets me. I thought the whole magic deal meant he never actually had to do the dirty work. Makes that kid's guess even funnier when you think about it.

My buddy Mark cleans furnaces and came home covered in soot once. His neighbor's toddler pointed at him and yelled "Santa's helper!" because of the white beard outline on his dirty face. The kid's mom was so embarrassed, but Mark played along and gave the kid a candy cane from his truck. He said it made crawling around in those hot attics all day totally worth it. The magic is in the mess sometimes, you know?

Haha, gotta disagree with you on this one @patricia547. I always figured Santa gets his hands dirty too, like how else does he know if the chimneys are clear? It makes him more real if he does the work himself. That kid was probably onto something seeing the soot as proof. The magic isn't just in the clean suit, it's in the grit.
