Oh man, that reminds me of the time I chipped my favorite paring knife opening a stubborn plastic clamshell package. Totally my fault, felt like such a waste.

How expensive was this best knife anyway? A professional sharpener can fix a chip for like twenty bucks, so is it really that big of a deal?
