Spent $500 on a pre-listing sewer scope that saved my deal

My agent pushed for it on my Plaza Midwood bungalow, and it found a cracked line. Some say it's a waste if the city inspection passes, but it gave me leverage to get the seller to fix it. Would you pay for extra inspections like that, or just trust the basics?

Remember my buddy who skipped the sewer scope on his Craftsman? City said it was fine. Two months after closing, his backyard turned into a literal swamp from a collapsed line. Cost him over eight grand to fix. That extra inspection is cheap insurance.

Can you even trust the city's word anymore?
