Used a heat gun to dry a seam on a humid day in Savannah and it puckered the whole section.

Yeah, humidity is a killer for that. I've had better luck using a regular hair dryer on a low, cool setting from a few feet back. The heat gun is just too direct and intense, it basically steams the fabric from the inside out. You need a gentle airflow to push the moisture away without cooking the fibers.

Hair dryer trick works. Keep it on cool and stay back at least a foot. Heat guns are for stripping paint, not drying clothes. You'll just bake the sweat right in.
