Serious question, has anyone else had a customer ask for carpet in a bathroom?
Honestly, I got a call for a job in a house over in the suburbs and the homeowner wanted wall-to-wall carpet installed in their main bathroom. I was sure it was a bad idea and tried to talk them out of it, saying it would get moldy. They insisted, saying they had some special waterproof padding and a synthetic fiber. I did the install about eight months ago and just got a call for another room from them. Tbh, they said the bathroom carpet is holding up fine with their extractor cleaner. Has anyone else actually seen this work out, or did I just get lucky?

Perfect storm of good materials? More like a totally valid design choice that gets too much hate. That waterproof padding tech is way better than it used to be. If they're cleaning it right, it's no different than a fancy bath mat. People act like a little moisture is a death sentence but houses are built to handle it. Maybe everyone else is just stuck in the past.

That waterproof padding and synthetic fiber combo must be doing the heavy lifting. It sounds like they're also really on top of maintenance with that extractor, which most people wouldn't bother with. You might have a perfect storm of good materials and a careful homeowner. Still feels like a gamble long term, like if a toilet overflow ever happens. But hey, if it works for them, it works.
