Question about the 1972 shag job an old installer walked me through in Bakersfield
Back when I was greener, a guy named Ray let me ride along on a shag install off Chester Ave in Bakersfield, and he made me stretch every piece by hand before touching the power stretcher. He said, "Your knee will lie to you, your hands won't." That one habit saved me on a 14 foot run two weeks ago where the pad was bunching near a door jamb. I still do the hand pull on every room out of respect for that lesson. Any of you still do a hand test before the stretcher, or is that just an old school thing?
