My stupid mistake with a door bar took forever to fix

Last week I installed carpet in a bedroom and put the metal door bar down before I checked if the door would clear it. Door smacked right into it and scraped up the bottom. Had to pull the whole strip back up, trim 3/8 inch off the bottom of the door, and reinstall the bar. Took an extra hour and a half for something I should have caught in 2 seconds. Any of you guys forget the door clearance and pay for it later?

Actually, I'd argue that catching it after you cut the door bar is still a pretty fast fix (compared to what could have gone wrong). My dad always taught me to check clearance before anything, but I've definitely had moments where I trimmed the wrong side of a door by 3/8 inch and that took way longer than an hour and a half to fix.

3/8 inch off a door and I'd have just thrown the whole thing in the trash.
