A customer in Boise asked me to save her old padding, 20 years later I get why

Back in 2003 I was doing a tear out for a lady in Boise, and she insisted we keep the original felt padding from her 1970s living room. I thought it was weird, but we rolled it up and stored it in her garage. Last month she called me to redo the same room, and she had that same padding still sitting there. She said her dad installed it himself and she couldnt stand to see it thrown away. We laid new carpet over it after checking it was still flat, and it honestly held up better than some new foam pads Ive used. Have any of you ever kept old padding on a redo just because the homeowner wanted it?

Boise humidity rots old padding faster than cheap beer goes bad.
