Warning: I just read a 2004 forum thread where a guy tried to host a server on a toaster
I was looking up old ways to build a simple router table fence and stumbled on this ancient forum post. The guy was dead serious about using a literal kitchen toaster as a web server, talking about wiring it up and everything. It made me think about how we get stuck on using the 'right' tool for every single job. Last month I needed a quick spacer for a cabinet install and used a stack of washers I had in my truck instead of driving back to the shop for the proper pack. It worked fine and saved me an hour. Sometimes the perfect tool is the one that gets the job done right now, not the one in the catalog. What's the weirdest thing you've used in a pinch that actually worked?

My 'server rack' is just three old VCRs stacked on a milk crate... it's not pretty but it runs.

How do you even keep those VCRs from falling over, @davis.victor? My first setup was a router balanced on some old textbooks, so I get the struggle. If it works, it works, right?
