Spent $600 on a Festool Domino and honestly I kind of regret it

I see everyone raving about those Festool joiners but my old router and some cheap templates do the same job for me and I'm not convinced the precision is worth that kind of money, has anyone else gone back to the old way after buying one?

Are you actually building stuff that needs that level of precision though? I mean yeah if youre making furniture for a living maybe it matters but for weekend projects a $50 router and some jigs do the job fine. People act like the Domino is some kind of magic wand that makes joints perfect every time but Ive seen plenty of wobbly tables made with expensive tools. Half the time the glue and screws are holding it together anyway not the fancy joiner. Feels like half the hype is just people trying to justify dropping way too much cash on a tool they barely use. Youre not alone in thinking it was a waste.

Right. My deck chairs stay put because of the screws, not because I spent $800 on a fancy joiner. Probably should have just bought more clamps and a pizza stone for that price.
