From my porch, I see nothing but composite decks these days

In my town, every new deck is made from composite materials. I think wood has a warmth and character that lasts, and it's what I was taught to use. What's your take on this move away from traditional lumber?

Honestly, this deck thing is just one example of a bigger swap to synthetic materials everywhere. You see it with vinyl siding replacing wood, and even fake plants in offices. Maybe it's practical, but it makes the world feel a bit less alive, lol.

That's a huge win for busy people. The color lasts way longer without fading in the sun. Sure, it feels different underfoot, but not having a weekend project every single summer is worth it. The trade-off for less work and more free time is pretty solid.
