Threw $300 at a career coaching program that was just rehashed YouTube videos
Last fall I signed up for this online career coaching thing called "The Pivot Method" or something like that. Paid $300 upfront because the sales pitch promised personalized resume reviews and direct access to people in my field. What I got was a bunch of PDFs and links to free YouTube videos anyone could find. The weekly group calls were just the coach reading slides for an hour, no real advice specific to my situation. When I asked for my money back after two weeks they pointed to a fine print saying all sales were final. Waste of cash and time, and it made me feel dumb for falling for it. Anyone else get burned by one of these flashy coach programs?

I used to think those programs were legit until I dropped $250 on one called "Launch Your Dream Career" or something like that. All I got was a login to a Dropbox folder full of outdated worksheets and recordings that sounded like they were filmed in someone's basement. It made me feel stupid for buying into the hype, especially since the testimonials on their site were probably fake. Now I just use free resources from my local library and ask people I know for honest advice instead of paying for empty promises.

dude that "filmed in someone's basement" part hit way too close to home. feels extra rough when you trusted the hype and actually paid real money for it.
