The numbers on my resume were completely made up until last week

I always figured everyone just rounded up their sales figures or padded their metrics a bit. Then I talked to a hiring manager at a job fair in Austin who told me they actually call past employers to verify those numbers about 30% of the time for senior roles. That hit different because I had listed myself as managing a $500k budget when it was really like $200k. I spent two days redoing my entire resume with the real numbers just to see if it still looked good enough to apply anywhere. Has anyone else ever gotten caught doing this or know someone who did?

Wait wait wait, they actually call and check those budget numbers? I just assumed that was one of those things everyone bluffs about and nobody follows up on. That's wild they're actually verifying that stuff for senior roles now.

Remember that time @coleman.christopher asked if anyone actually counts the gravel, and I brought receipts.
