Switched to a hammock tent setup and I'm never going back
I thought hammocks were just for lounging around camp, not actual sleeping, but after 4 rainy nights in the Smokies last month I woke up dry and comfortable every time. The underquilt makes all the difference, anyone else made the switch and got surprised?

Have you ever woken up in a tent and realized you were basically camping in a puddle? I’m an old man who got tired of rolling downhill all night, so now I just hang like a bat and sleep way better.

Made the switch and got surprised" - that's exactly how I felt after my first real trip with my hammock setup. I had the same worry about wet ground, but I was totally shocked at how warm and dry I stayed even when it poured all night. The underquilt really is the secret, without it I'd be frozen and miserable. I'm never going back to a tent either, it's just so much more comfortable to sleep off the ground.
