My buddy laughed at my tent setup and now I'm rethinking everything

I was camping with my friend Dave last weekend up near Lake George and he saw me struggling with my old Coleman dome tent for like 20 minutes. He just shook his head and said 'you know they make tents that set up in like 2 minutes right?' I mean I knew about instant tents but always figured they were flimsy or way too expensive. He showed me his setup from last year and it honestly looked solid. Has anyone else switched from a classic pole tent to one of those hub style pop ups? I'm wondering if they hold up in real wind or if I'd regret ditching my old one.

@angela_knight has a point but I've noticed people usually stick with whatever they're used to even when better stuff exists. My neighbor still uses a rope clothesline instead of a dryer. That Coleman will probably outlast a pop up in a bad storm though if that's your main worry.

Has your buddy ever actually tried sleeping in a real storm with those pop ups? I know a guy who had one collapse on him in a surprise thunderstorm and his old Coleman woulda been fine.
