The week I fixed 14 cameras in 3 days and then killed a Leica with one slip
Back in 2019 I cleared a whole shelf of customer jobs at my bench in Portland, 14 cameras in 3 days, felt like I could do no wrong. Then a guy hands me his grandfather's Leica IIIf and I rush the shutter curtain, slipped with the tweezers and poked a hole right through it. I sat there for 20 minutes just staring at it, and had to call him and admit what happened. Now I set every job down for a full day before I touch anything delicate. Does anyone else have a mistake that still bugs them years later?
Poking a hole in a grandfather's Leica is a special kind of bad day, you basically became the reason that camera has a story now. My own screwdriver slip from 2017 still visits me at 2am like a bad houseguest.
