Fixing a stuck shutter on a manual focus camera showed me how sound can guide repairs
I was struggling with a sluggish shutter until I listened to the mechanism's rhythm. Paying attention to the subtle whirrs and clicks helped me pinpoint the issue without taking everything apart. It's a simple trick that saves a lot of time.

Isn't it wild how much sound tells you? I fixed an old radio just by listening for where the static changed.

Love that you could fix it just by listening, @murphy.sarah! It really is amazing how much our ears can figure out. I remember fixing a cassette tape by hearing the weird warble and knowing exactly where the tape was twisted. Sound is like a secret map to how things work.

So true! That clicky rhythm thing is real. My dad used to fix old record players just by hearing the needle scratch. He'd know if the belt was loose or the motor was bad. Same with my bike, the chain makes a certain noise when it needs oil. It's like each machine has its own language. You just have to learn to listen.
