Unpopular opinion: spending 30 minutes on a perfect coax termination is overkill for most residential jobs
I know the textbook says take your time for clean terminations but after that Austin job I'm wondering if the 'right' way is always the best way for basic installs - has anyone else seen better results from a quick and dirty job?

Man, I once spent a solid 45 minutes on a termination (I was showing off, obviously) and the next day the customer's cat chewed through the whole line anyway. (True story, that cat had it out for me.) For basic residential stuff, a clean 80% job that works beats a perfect one that takes all day, especially when you're chasing the clock. My quick and dirty terminations rarely fail me, but my 'perfect' ones have definitely been stepped on by a client moving furniture right after I left.

45 minutes on a single termination? What were you doing, braiding the pairs together? I've built entire server racks in less time than that. And you know the cat was waiting for you to finish. He was sitting there plotting his attack while you were fussing with the jacket strip length.
