My old cable toner gave up the ghost in a crawl space yesterday
It just stopped working halfway through tracing a line in a house in Springfield. I had to use the old 'tone and probe with a butt set' trick to finish the job. Anyone have a good replacement model that can handle a bit of moisture?

Wait, in a crawl space? That's the worst possible spot for gear to die.

My buddy lost a whole camera kit that way. Had to army-crawl through spiderwebs to find a lens cap, and @evanpalmer is right, the damp air got into his bag. Everything had that weird mildew smell for weeks after.

4400MHz on my Fluke is what I run and I've dropped it in mud MORE than once, still ticking along fine. I actually think a little moisture is GOOD for some gear, keeps the dust from caking up inside the connectors. People baby their tools way too much these days, acting like a few spiderwebs and some damp dirt is some kind of death sentence. If you bought a cheapo toner from Home Depot, yeah it's probably toast, but anything halfway decent from Greenlee or Tempo should shrug that off no problem. Crawl spaces get WAY too much of a bad reputation, they're just tight basements with better insulation.
