I finally got into salvaging old cable trays from demolition sites
This cuts down on new material use and keeps metal from ending up in landfills.

Read somewhere that industrial salvage like this is getting really popular for maker spaces and workshops. Makes total sense with how tough that old stuff is.

Good move, that stuff is built to last. Knock all the concrete dust and grit out first, it gets everywhere. Straighten any bent sections with a mallet before you try to mount it. Watch for old plastic coatings that might be peeling, sometimes that junk hides lead paint. Keep different sizes sorted, nothing worse than digging through a pile when you need a specific width. Dry storage is key or you'll just be dealing with surface rust later.
