Guy at a job site in Tulsa told me to quit zip tying coax to the drop, and he was right
I used to zip tie every coax run to the house drop, figured it kept things tight and tidy. Then about 5 months ago I was on a two story in Tulsa, older house off Cherry Street, and this older installer named Ray watched me do it and just shook his head. He said the drop moves in the wind and the zip ties don't, so the jacket rubs and you get water in the line by winter. I blew him off at first because I'd been doing it a couple years with no complaints I knew about. Two months later I got a callback on that exact house, water in the fitting, picture cutting out every time it rained. So now I run a loose loop and use UV rated ties with a little slack, and callbacks from water damage have basically dropped off. Curious if any of you use those spiral wrap sleeves instead, or if you just leave the coax totally free on the drop.
