Have you had any luck closing that gap up, or are you living with it now? I totally get what you mean about that tiny measurement driving you bonkers. In my experience, once you notice a little imperfection like that, your eyes go right to it every single time you walk past. I remember I had a drawer that was off by maybe a hair more than that on one side, and I spent way too many weekends trying to shim it just right. Your mileage may vary, but I've found that even a small misalignment can throw off the whole look of a piece. It's funny how such a small thing can feel like such a big deal once it's stuck in your head.
