The $5 garage sale awl is still my best leather punch after 8 years

Picked it up at a sale near Akron and figured it would bend on the first strap, but it's punched through everything from belts to sheaths without sharpening once. Anybody else find their go-to tool in a junk pile instead of a catalog?
