My band saw blade snapped mid-rib on a whole hog yesterday

It was a 3/4 inch blade, and I had to finish the primal breakdown with a hand saw. Anyone have a favorite brand for heavy-duty butchery blades?

Man, that sound is the worst. That sudden pop and then you're just standing there looking at a half-cut hog. Been there. For the really heavy stuff, like whole carcasses, a lot of guys at the shop swear by the Lennox Diemaster 2 blades. They're built for constant abuse on big, wet cuts. The bimetal construction seems to handle the weird angles and pressure changes way better before it gives up. Finishing with a hand saw is a brutal workout, no joke.

Honestly stella627, is a saw blade really that big of a deal? I've used cheap ones from the hardware store for years on all kinds of stuff and they get the job done. It's just a tool, you know? I feel like people make it way too serious, like you need some special fancy blade for every little cut. Sometimes a tool just breaks and you grab another one.
