Just realized my best sales day in 14 years at the shop came from a busted walk-in cooler
Our cooler quit on a Tuesday morning back in March, down in the shop on 3rd Ave. Lost maybe 40 pounds of trim and some chicken, which stung. But instead of tossing it all, I marked down the good cuts cheap and put a hand written sign out front. People came out of nowhere. One lady drove over from two towns away because her neighbor texted her about the deals. We did $2,300 that Saturday, which is about double a normal Saturday for us. Funny part is the repair guy showed up Monday and it was just a $210 relay switch. So my question is, do you ever run markdown days on purpose just to pull a crowd? I'm half tempted to do it once a season now but I don't want to train folks to wait for deals.
