I finally got my grinder plates to stop rusting after every wash
For a long time I was hand drying my plates with a rag and putting them straight back in the cabinet. After maybe 3 weeks they would always have that orange fuzz on the edges, no matter how hard I wiped them down. My old boss in Boise told me to stop drying with cloth and just let them air dry on a rack after a quick spray of food safe oil. Did that for the last 2 months and pulled them out today, not one speck of rust. Anyone else got a trick for keeping the small plates dry in a humid kitchen?
Learned that lesson the hard way with a cast iron skillet years back. Was so proud of my seasoning and then scrubbed it clean one night, dried it with a dish towel, and woke up to rust spots all over it. My wife still brings it up whenever I touch anything in the kitchen. Air drying on a rack near the stove seems to do the trick for me too, the heat from cooking keeps the air around there dry enough.
