Warning: my Spotify Wrapped said I listened to 1,247 minutes of a 9 hour rain sound
So I checked my Spotify Wrapped thing, and apparently I spent 1,247 minutes this year listening to one single track called "Rain on a Tin Roof, 9 Hours." That is almost 21 hours of fake rain from one file. The reason it happened is way dumber than the number. I started using it to fall asleep back in March when my upstairs neighbor got a puppy, and I guess I never turned off autoplay. The algorithm saw me loop it every night and just went all in. Now my entire Wrapped is that one track, plus "suggested for you" stuff like thunder, whale sounds, and something called "Brown Noise for Deep Focus." I tried to fix it by playing real bands for a week straight and the app still put the rain as my number one artist. Has anyone else had an algorithm lock onto one dumb thing you did twice and refuse to let it go? I need to know if I can train this thing back or if I'm stuck with rain forever.
I read somewhere that these apps build your whole profile on the last few months, not the whole year, so a couple months of rain loops can basically take over everything (which is wild when you think about it). The fix people talk about is making a whole new playlist of stuff you actually want and playing it on repeat for a few weeks, not just a few days. There is also a setting in Spotify where you can turn off "autoplay similar content" and it stops the app from sliding into more rain and whale stuff after your track ends. I heard some folks even make a second account just for sleep sounds so their main one stays normal. Two weeks of real bands might not be enough, mine took like a month to stop pushing the same junk at me.
