That AI grocery list told me to buy 4 jars of capers and somehow it was still useful
Saw someone earlier posting about how their grocery app suggested capers for three different meals and they called it broken. I get it, it looks dumb on the surface. But I actually followed mine for a week straight and it cut my food waste down by like 30%, which is real money when you're on a budget in Chicago. The algorithm kept repeating weird ingredients, sure, but it also made me use up what was already in my fridge before buying new stuff. I think we're too quick to laugh at these things instead of seeing the pattern underneath. Anyone else actually stick with a weird recommendation longer than a day and get something out of it?

Used to think those apps were straight up gimmicks, but seeing someone actually break down the capers thing like that flipped it for me. I tried a similar trick with a leftover rotisserie chicken and some random chili crisp the app kept pushing, and it forced me to stop buying six kinds of sauces I never finished. The weird repeats got me to use the same ingredient in three different ways, which felt dumb but saved me from tossing half a jar of pickled onions. Now I just ignore the parts that don't make sense and grab the stuff that makes me clean out my fridge.
