Left a 3 star review for a plumber in Phoenix and he called me 20 minutes later
I had a slow drain for 6 weeks and finally called a guy in Phoenix who had 4.8 stars on 200 reviews. Work was fine but he tracked mud on my carpet and showed up 90 minutes past the window, so I gave him 3 stars and wrote a normal review. He called me 20 minutes after I posted it and offered to come back and steam clean the carpet for free if I bumped it to 4 stars. I said no and he got quiet and just hung up. That call told me more about his business than the 200 good reviews ever did. Now when I read reviews I skip the 5 stars and 1 stars and only read the 2s and 3s, because that is where people actually say what went wrong. Has anyone else had a business call them after a review? What did you do?
Did he think you were gonna trade a star for a carpet cleaning like it's some kind of hostage deal? That phone call is proof he cares way more about his rating than about doing the job right the first time. You just know that 4.8 average is built on a bunch of people who got the same call and gave in.
