Warning: I used to say anyone who burns grilled cheese is just not paying attention, then my landlord's kid proved me wrong
I used to think burning a grilled cheese meant you walked away or had the heat too high, plain and simple. Then last month my landlord's 11 year old kid was over while his dad fixed the sink, and he asked if he could make himself one in my kitchen. I said sure and watched him do everything right, butter, medium heat, lid on, flipped at the right time, and it still came out black on one side because my stove's front left burner runs way hotter than the dial says. He just shrugged and said 'your stove lies' and ate it anyway. Now I want to know how many of you have one burner that secretly runs hot, because I never noticed it for 3 years until a kid pointed it out.
